There are two seasons over the course of the year, a fall and a spring. Fall Season generally runs mid-August through October, while the Spring Season runs mid-March through May. Recreational Leagues are organized by age group where teams are made up of children of similar age based off of birth-dates. The "U" listed before an age group indicates "under", meaning that children playing in that league are under the age. For example: the U4 age group is for children that are 4 and under that season. Children can begin playing in the fall season if they have turned 3 by July 31 of that calendar year. Each Fall your child moves up in age group.
U4 - U6
The Micro Coed soccer program introduces both boys and girls to soccer on a small field with parent referees. The rules have been simplified and the playing field is small to boost ball time per player. Micro Coed soccer teams are comprised of U4 - U6. The games are played 3v3 and a roster size is generally 5-7 players.
U7
At U7, leagues are separated by gender and games are boosted in numbers to 4v4.
U8
At the U8 age group, the game is advanced with regulation field markings, and a center referee is provided. The players are taught more of the rules, but the team size still remains small to encourage individual skills development. The game is played as 6v6 including a goalkeeper.
U4-U8 Recreational Soccer
Emphasis of this program is an introduction to the laws of the game, basic soccer skills and increased development of age-appropriate locomotive skills.
Practices are held weeknights usually at a neighborhood park or school and are scheduled by the coaches.
Coaches are parent volunteers who are provided training, suggested practice plans and minimal equipment.
Games are played on Saturdays against other St. Vrain FC teams
U4-U6 are coed teams
U7-U8 are gender based teams

U9 and U10 Programs
We are excited to announce that beginning Fall of 2010, St. Vrain FC will be offering an in-house recreational league for the U9/U10 age group in addition to the Interleague and Option 1 that is currently offered. This move allows St. Vrain FC to better serve players at that age group, and it gives those players more options and choices to choose the team which will best suit their needs.
What is the In-House Rec League?
The in-house recreational league is for players and families who are interested in playing soccer for fun, and not traveling to other cities to play games. All games will be played in Longmont at either Sandstone Ranch or Longmont Estates Elementary, and all games will be played against other St. Vrain FC in-house rec teams.
*** If there are not enough teams to field an in-house rec league, these teams will join the Interleague "C" league ***
What is interleague?
Interleague is a recreational league run by the City of Westminster which puts north area rec teams against rec teams from other clubs. Interleauge is for players and families who are more committed to practicing more often and traveling to games. Interleague is for players and families who have ambitions of playing at a more advanced level at the U11 and above age groups, and once they get to High School soccer. All interleague teams play their home games in Longmont, while away games will be played in Boulder, Westminster, Broomfield, Lafayette, Golden, Arvada, and Northglenn. There are 3 levels of interleague which are based on perceived skill of the team: A, B, and C. Coaches get to choose which level would best suit their team.
What is option 1?
Option 1 is for U10 teams, and is a recreational league run by Colorado Youth Soccer which puts St. Vrain FC rec teams against other rec teams around the State. This is for the most committed players and families, as travel can extend all the way to South Denver, Colorado Springs, and Vail. Option 1 is for players and families who have ambitions of playing at the highest levels possible as they continue to progress and get older as soccer players. There are 3 levels of Option 1 which are based on perceived skill of the team: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Coaches get to choose which level would best suit their team.
Once again, we are very excited to offer St. Vrain FC members more choice as to which level their son or daughter can play. We want every player to love the game of soccer, and we know this means different things to different players. As long as the players are playing at a level which they are comfortable and can excel, we are providing them the best chance to fall in love with the game.
